What can I see in the sky tonight?

Computing…

Your location

Give your location: the sky depends on where you are.

Used only in your browser, never sent. Rounded to about 1 km and kept in this browser until you forget it.

What you can see tonight depends on where you are. Give Perigee your location and it works out, for the night ahead: when it gets dark, the Moon’s phase and when it rises, which planets are above the horizon and bright enough for the naked eye, and when the International Space Station, Tiangong or Hubble pass overhead in sunlight. Everything is computed on your device from astronomical models and the latest tracking data; your location is never sent anywhere. The clearest views come away from city lights, after your eyes have had about twenty minutes to get used to the dark.

Questions and answers

How can I tell a planet from a star?

Planets shine with a steady light, while stars twinkle, and planets stay close to the path the Sun and the Moon follow across the sky.

Is my location sent anywhere?

No. It is used only in your browser to do the calculations, and you can make the page forget it at any time.
